Description
Join us for Through Their Eyes, a special open house for guests to witness the impact of support, compassion, and hope for children in crisis that transpires at Grand Junction's own child advocacy center (CAC). This event allows you to see the world through the eyes of a child who has endured child abuse—both with and without the support of a CAC.
Attendees will experience two separate simulations. On one side, you will witness the dark, isolating journey children face without coordinated systems in place. Endless retellings, lack of support, and overwhelming hardship make an already traumatic experience even more difficult. On the other, you will see the light that a CAC brings: a safe space where a child is supported, believed, and only needs to share their story once. You’ll see how advocacy, therapy, and coordinated care provide help, hope, and healing.
'Through Their Eyes' paints a powerful contrast—one path heavy with isolation, the other filled with support and resilience. Join us to understand why CACs matter in the lives of children in our local community.
ADVISEMENT: Attendees may witness scenarios with child actors meeting with service providers. No abuse scenarios, actual or fictional, will be discussed as part of the simulation, though some attendees may desire to be forewarned that staff and board will share more about the child advocacy center work and statistics related to child abuse in Mesa County, including sexual abuse.
